Introduction

Sentinel of the Hourglass

"Reconstructed by Liu Kang at the dawn of his New Era, Geras remains eternal and unkillable. He retains the memories of all the innumerable timelines he has watched pass and fade. In this New Era, Geras monitors events to make sure that they are faithful to Liu Kang’s vision. When they deviate from their intended path, it is Geras’s responsibility to correct them. As threats begin to mount, Geras works tirelessly to defend reality. But to succeed, he must first identify the mastermind behind the plot to destroy Liu Kang’s New Era.”

Empowered by the sands of the magical Hourglass, Geras is a very unique Grappler/Setplay kombatant who sacrifices lower health (950 HP) for having various abilities that can alter time to his advantage by rewinding/cloning himself or freezing the opponent; his BF1 can Time Stop the opponent in a stun state when Enhanced or by interrupting the default version with certain Kameos, allowing him to inflict guaranteed dmg and cause the hit reaction out of Time Stop to correspond with the last attack used. Geras can mark an “anchor” with Redo (BF3) for 5 seconds or until hit, after which he returns to the anchor; spending two bars of meter will instead trigger Double Time (EX BF3) to stop time and create a sand clone puppet of Geras that stores the player’s inputs during the timestop and then acts out the inputted sequence while Geras can act independently. His DB2/DF2 Command Grabs utilize disjointed sand clones and will grant a tick-throw after all crouching pokes and 11f Mid (F1/F12) staggers, causing more dmg when throwing out of the corner; the EX versions will Throw neutral-ducking opponents, connect on hit, and alter the hit reaction allowing conversions into juggle kombos with Kameo assists. Geras can use select specials to build up 3 Countdown charges and gain access to Inevitable (DB3), an instant fullscreen tracking version of EX Time Stop that teleports him to the opponent for kombos; alternatively, he can spend all 3 charges to perform Fixed Point (EX DB3) even during gaps in the opponent’s kombos, which rewinds Geras to his onscreen position/health value from 3 seconds prior.
