Introduction

Defender of the Tarkatans

“Baraka was once a respected Outworld merchant. But that life ended in an instant when he contracted the dreaded Tarkat plague; incurable, contagious, and the cause of severe physical deformities, Tarkat turned Baraka into a monster. He was cast out and doomed to live out his days in a colony of similarly afflicted Outworlders. When Baraka first arrived, the colony was in disarray. His fellow Tarkatans had given up and were ready to die. Their hopelessness lit a fire in Baraka’s heart. He spares no effort to better his fellow Tarkatans’ lives. He knows that as long as he fights, he will never truly be a victim.”

Baraka is a literal Rushdown monster designed around Aggression and Pressure with several blade normals and multi-hitting strings/specials that can be enhanced with Kameo assists to inflict significant Damage/Chip against opponents; some of his safe tools include a multi-hitting confirmable 444444 string with safe staggers, two fast Mids that can lead to kombos (F4/B3), a fast cancellable Low (B1), and a 29f Overhead (F3) that is reactable but places him in an airborne state to "crush" Low attacks. His many High attacks or unsafe moves can be covered by Kameo assists to Jail the opponent on block and remain safe/plus while inflicting chip; certain EX specials also increase the amount of chip received and/or inflict damage over time for 5 seconds. Baraka excels at keeping the opponent blocking and forced to withstand a barrage of hits; he can quickly advance from nearly fullscreen with moves like (Air) DF2 Death Spin, as well as his EX BF3 armor reversal which low-profiles certain Highs/projectiles. Desperate Tarkatan (Down + Flip Stance) allows him to trade his Fatal Blow for an install that slowly drains his health for the remainder of the round while granting him super meter in exchange (increasing meter gain as his HP decreases); this install can be confirmed into after normals/specials to allow follow-up links into kombos, and allows him to chain/extend certain special moves for 1 bar each while the install is active.
