Introduction

Master of Stealth

”As a boy, Smoke lived to hunt with his family. Their final hunt, however, ended in tragedy. Having accidentally trespassed onto Lin Kuei lands, they were attacked. Smoke was orphaned. Ashamed by his warriors' actions, the Lin Kuei's Grandmaster adopted Smoke and raised him alongside his sons, Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Eventually, Smoke chose to make the Lin Kuei’s mission his own. But as he lacked his brothers' innate supernatural abilities, he set out to master practical magic. Having done so. he now joins them in Earthrealm's defense.”

Smoke is a Rushdown/Mixup ninja that excels at playing neutral/footsies with close-range blade attacks that advance forward or put him in an airborne state, as well as various mobility/defense specials/cancels that quickly teleport him and/or keep him safe, allowing him to whiff-punish, anti-air, and pressure opponents to open them up for kombos/setups. Some of his tools include a safe leaping 28f Overhead (B2) and advancing double-High kick (F4) that are cancellable into aerial specials on startup, a safe confirmable 12f Low (F3), a double-Low crouching string (D34), and various cancellable High/aerial strings; although many of his strings and mixup options are slow and interruptible, they are relatively safe (unless Flawless/Up Blocked) and can be covered by Kameo assists to close his gaps. His BF3 advances fullscreen, has projectile-invulnerability, is unbreakable when Enhanced, and can be cancelled to remain safe; (Air) BF3 causes a ground bounce on hit or a restand when Enhanced. His Smokeport (DB4) hits Low and can be used while grounded or airborne as well as cancelled, while Smoke Bomb (DB2) throws a tracking bomb above the opponent which he quickly appears from with an Overhead; EX Smoke Bomb (which has armor) and cancelling EX Smokeport briefly grant Smoke Invisibility that can establish unseeable mix by making his slow mixups and string gaps harder to read or exploit.
