Introduction

Repentant Netherrealm Demon

”As a demon, all Ashrah knew was pain & violence. She assumed all beings in all realms lived as she did. But once she journeyed outside the Netherrealm, she realized her error. Other realms were places of beauty & peace. She could not aid in their defilement. Ashrah fled from her sister demons. Along the way, she found an enchanted kriss [Datusha]. It was a demon slayer, which she used to finish her pursuers. She was stunned to discover using the kriss to destroy evil was purifying her soul. And that if she continued to do so, she could free herself from the Netherrealm. Ashrah senses that her final absolution is near. Once achieved, she will finally enter the light.”

Ashrah is a Stance kombatant with both Rushdown/Mixup and Zoning qualities that excels at playing mid-range neutral with long-reaching sword attacks, having several disjointed pokes and anti-airs that give her space-control and whiff-punishes as well a few pressure/mixup tools to open up the opponent; some of these include an S2 with crumple stun and High/Low options, Mid/Overhead strings, a safe 14f Low (B3) and an unsafe 23f “crossup” Overhead (F3) that causes a ground bounce allowing special-cancels and/or conversions with Kameo assists. Besides her anti-air DF3 (which cancels into aerial attacks from the EX version or can be converted into juggles with Kameo assists), most of her specials are unbreakable in kombos; her BF2 teleport dash can be delayed to project her further away and allows her to perform a frontal push or a fast 8f crossover slice, with full armor during its startup even while charging. Ashrah can switch her sword’s stance from the default Heaven Mode to Hell Mode either manually with DB1 or automatically after EX moves by holding Flip Stance, which slightly changes her specials’ properties and causes each of them to stack a Sin debuff onto the opponent up to 3 times. While in Heaven mode, all of her specials performed will ”absolve” a Sin on hit and inflict an additional 20 dmg, with certain strings also being able to absolve a Sin and alter their hit reaction (i.e. launch/bounce).
