Team positioning
Point
Ironman makes a good point. He can threaten infinite at round start. He builds meter for other characters.
Mid
Arguably IM's best spot. DHC into Proton Cannon is a strong threat and can be used to set up guard break. Can utilize Repulsor Blast assist.
Anchor
IM as the assist character always gives you a win condition if IM is alive. He is one of the few characters you can call a true anchor thanks to the threat of the infinite. Also allows for good DHC rotation as always.
Team Building
Composition
Storm has safe dhc, she has kill potential with DHC into IM, she builds good meter for others, she has grab setups into repulsor and can tod sentinel off of throw. She's awesome!
Sentinel gives you high damage and lots of health. Proton Cannon to HSF dhc is lethal.
Cable, in addition to his assist, is a good outlet for meter
Magneto is a good starter that can DHC into IM and set up the guardbreak into infinite.
Any good AAA is a strong option, such as Doom, Psylocke, or Cyclops. They can both improve IM neutral and set up infinites.
Assists
Doom offers ease of ground control and chip, sentinel drones offers high defense and great ground control for IM. Cyclops offers great pacing for both characters due to his AAA being multi hitting, storm projectile or la assist offer setups and safe dhc. -credit to j360
Established Teams
- Combofiend (Mag/IM/Sent) - Aggressive team, very strong DHC potential going into either HSF or Guardbreak.
- Team CTD (IM/Sent/Cable) - Strong team that supports IM well as a point but the order is quite flexible too. J360 has piloted this to many Crack Til Dawn (CTD) wins.
- Angel (Storm/Sent/IM) - Alternate Storm/Sent setup; often seen with Storm vertical Typhoon assist but overall a flexible team. Often called Roundhouse now for the player.
- Mitsu aka Team Japan (IM/Storm/Cable) - A classic one touch kill team; uses THC to kill and keep IM on point
- Thrillah (IM/WM/Cable) - Strong one touch potential piloted by General Thrillah.
- Illan (IM/Cable/Doom) - OG combo of IM/Cable with rocks to bolster neutral and combos
- Julius Jackson (IM/WM/Doom) - Julius Jackson special, an oldie but goodie
- Mag/IM/Psy - It's MSP but with IM
