Capcom's Versus Series consists of a series of fighting games that include characters from various other companies mingled with Capcom's own cast of game characters. The versus series unofficially began with the Capcom fighting game X-Men: Children of the Atom, and continued as Capcom eventually combined the mutants of the X-Men universe with the roster of Street Fighter Alpha.
Over time Capcom entered into contracts with SNK, Tatsunoko and Namco to develop additional Versus series games.
