This is Tony Stark. He built that suit himself- pretty smart guy. For the purposes of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, he's considered a top tier character, but not quite god tier. His kit is overall good, but what really sets him apart is his infinite combo, which gives him access to a nice touch of death.<br>

Almost god tier due to his infinite. One hit from can lead to your entire team dying. Works particularly well with Psylocke-A and Doom-B.
Iron Man's cool because he can do an infinite combo. It takes practice, but it's fun when you get it down. He's also got some nice toys to play with in the form of his specials, like Unibeam and Repulsor Blast. Those moves let him control a lot of space quickly, and so they're very nice tools to have in this crazy game. He's only got one super move, but it's a beam called Proton Cannon. It has hitboxes that knock you into the beam if you throw it up close, so you can use it to end combos. It also does good damage for how much super meter it costs. He's got several useful command normals, like his jumping 8HK, which starts his infinite, and jumping 2HK, which sends him downward.

The timing on this combo is strange, the lk and lp must be spaced out so when you hit the hp you are slightly lower than the body. Hit hk right before they hit the ground to make them bounce up a little, then jump toward and hit lk and continue the combo. What is also strange about this combo, is it eliminates pushback and you no longer have to hold up+forward to continue the infinite.

Introduction

This is Tony Stark. He built that suit himself- pretty smart guy. For the purposes of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, he's considered a top tier character, but not quite god tier. His kit is overall good, but what really sets him apart is his infinite combo, which gives him access to a nice touch of death.


Iron Man's cool because he can do an infinite combo. It takes practice, but it's fun when you get it down. He's also got some nice toys to play with in the form of his specials, like Unibeam and Repulsor Blast. Those moves let him control a lot of space quickly, and so they're very nice tools to have in this crazy game. He's only got one super move, but it's a beam called Proton Cannon. It has hitboxes that knock you into the beam if you throw it up close, so you can use it to end combos. It also does good damage for how much super meter it costs. He's got several useful command normals, like his jumping 8HK, which starts his infinite, and jumping 2HK, which sends him downward.

Gameplay

Iron Man is cool because he does infinites.

Strengths Weaknesses
  • Infinite Combo- he's got THE infinite combo (keep the rhythm up); near universal and easy to do
  • Air Mobility- he's slow, but he has 8-way dash privilege, flight mode, and knee drop to change trajectory quickly in the air
  • Big Assist- Iron Man's anti-air assist covers a huge range and with the right setup can do massive damage. Technically the most damaging assist in the game but you only get a few of the hits in most situations.
  • Proton Cannon- very nice full screen DHC tool, great chip, makes his infinite truly scary by allowing conversions that kill into a guard break setup
  • Good meter battery - mostly uses meter in combos (where he'll be building meter anyways), pair him a character that loves to spend bar.
  • Round start - with the threat of 300% damage and some good openers, it can be risky for any character to contest Ironman at round start
  • Execution dependent- the infinite is very practical, but you need to be perfect, and you might not get another chance if you drop it.

Full screen beam, good chip tool. Can be done in the air to control movement or tiger knee to catch people at normal jump height (aka anti Hailstorm).

Unibeam has a long recovery, giving it some risk. Not recommended to base your neutral around but using it to check people at the end of a string or trying to press buttons at full screen will help stabilize neutral.
