I'm READY!!!

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob SquarePants! From the series of the same name, SpongeBob is a happy-go-lucky sea sponge who is always ready for his next big adventure!

Gameplay

SpongeBob is an all-rounder character designed to be beginner friendly with fairly balanced attributes across the board. He has relatively quick attacks that could favor a rushdown playstyle along with a slow moving projectile that can cover a wide area of the stage. His recovery also sends him flying high up vertically which enables him to go deep off stage to secure the KO.

If you're new to the platform fighting genre and want a character that's easy to pick up and play, or if you're a veteran looking to learn the ropes of NASB's playstyle, this is one sponge you'll absolutely clean up with!

Good Recovery: Up special sends him straight up high. Combined with double jump and air dash, Spongebob can go deep off stage to secure a stock and still recover Solid Projectile: Bubble Blow sends out a slow moving projectile that travels far across the stage, forcing your opponent to react to it one way or another . Combo Game: SpongeBob’s scaling hitstun allows him to find combos on nearly all of his light attacks and kill confirms that continue to work past very high %s unlike the majority of the cast. Bring it Arouuuuund Town!: SpongeBob is an excellent all-rounder character, with tools to cover just about any situation.

Disjoints: SpongeBob does not have a reliable disjoint unlike other characters in the cast. As such there are times where he has to work his way in to win neutral. Barnacles!: SpongeBob is a middleweight, which means he can be combo'd by a lot of the cast but doesn't live as long as a heavyweight.

Very fast button and effective combo starter. Combos into most of his lights.

Floor Sweep

"Well at least I don't have to clean up my ACT!"

Extremely fast low. Can be used as an edgeguarding tool at ledge, sending opponents straight down.

Spin Attack

"Now it's time to bring it around town!"

Great dash attack. Combos into a lot of moves in his kit, such as Jab and Up Strong.

Very good button and very good combo tool. Hitbox is long and the move is very fast, making this an excellent tool.

Aerial Up Kick

Excellent combo tool. Very fast and has a HUGE hitbox.

Big Punch

Not as good of a combo tool as his other lights, but fantastic for edgeguarding due to the angle it sends at.

Strong Attacks

Jellyfish Swing

Ol' Reliable

Good range strong, but slow and not as great as his other strongs. At higher %s the angle this move sends at is more upwards, making it harder to kill with.

Kah-Rah-Tay Uppercut
8S / Up Strong

Hi-Yah!

A good grounded strong. Big hitbox and reasonable endlag. Kills around 140% though, so it's not as good as the aerial version.

Imaginaaation Clap
2S / Down Strong

Sends downward, making it a good edgeguarding tool if it hits at ledge. Also a decent kill move on its own.

Great edgeguarding tool. Sends at a downward angle and kills pretty early offstage. Can even kill onstage at around 150%.

Special Attacks

Bubble Blow
5P / Neutral Special

Stop on your right foot! DON'T FORGET IT!

One of the best projectiles in the game. Can be used to force approaches, is a good combo tool, can be grabbed and sent at another angle to extend into a punish, and can be used as a zoning tool. Overall an outstanding move.

Order Up
8P / Up Special

One hydro-dynamic spatula with port and starboard attachments and turbo drive, coming right up!

A propeller recovery. Fast and has a big hitbox, but can be beat out by some disjoints. Overall good recovery move, though.

Chomp
2P / Down Special

For when you gotta eat a Krabby Double Deluxe in one bite

Slows Spongebob's momentum and can go through projectiles. Good kill move and great edgeguarding tool. However, the hitbox is rather small, and the startup is slow, so it's not very safe.
