Playstyle

Iroh is a mixup based midrange character who relies on the tea install to expand his moveset and improve some tools. The counter itself is the most substancially changed move with tea, as it allows followups without actually hitting the move.

Iroh was previously left in an unfinished state and had some overpowered options, but as of Patch 1.13, he has been significantly made more complete and toned down, leaving him as a somewhat middling character with a surprising amount of tricks up his sleeve.

If you like excelling in the midrange, and having a strong amount of tools available at the press of a button, Iroh is your man!

Strengths

Weaknesses

Tea. Iroh's Down Special allows him to access his counter moves without counterattacking. This means he gets access to a crazy double fireball, much better movement, and some extremely strong pressure tools. Did I mention the tea itself heals 4% and even gives him a bit of meter?
Counter: An extremely versatile Neutral Special that allows Iroh to connect it with 4 different attacks on hit. This increases his mixup potential, and with Tea, he can do the moves without needing to hit the counter.
Edgeguarding: Iroh's Aerial Up and Down Strong allow him to snipe characters from pretty much anywhere if given the chance.
Above Average Weight: Iroh is a little stocky and can take a little while to kill.
Down Strong: A bizarrely ranged attack that allows Iroh to confirm from a long distance. It can even combo into itself!

Pancakers: Iroh can have a tougher time with short characters who can duck under his most threatening tools, such as Beavers.
Middling stats: Iroh is a somewhat slow heavyweight, which makes him an easy target to hit. Being in the air in a game where the stronger half of the cast has extremely strong anti-air tools does not help him much.
Not very combo-heavy: Iroh has combos, but they are pretty awkward to do with how big and ranged his aerials are. Thus, he is more of a defensive character in scope, and due to having to use Tea to get his projectiles, this means he can't really zone, either.

After that, Iroh explodes the ring which sends opponents away with a powerful knock back. While this move is active, Iroh stalls in the air. This move can only be inputted once on the air.

Iroh can move while this move is active (albeit can only walk slowly and wont stop once you start moving). Hold the special button to keep breathing out fire or release to end the move early. Starting this move in the air will immediately spawn the hit boxes (aka there's no start up frames). You can extend the duration of this move if you start it without walking, waiting a bit and then begin to walk. JASMINE DRAGON'S TEA ENHANCEMENT The range of this move greatly increased The 5 farthest hit boxes will deal 3% damage instead EX VERSION Iroh will instead glide in front of him for extra recovery.

Iroh drinks a cup of his favorite tea, which will heal him for 15%, gain a bit of slime meter and the JASMINE DRAGON'S TEA ENHANCEMENT effect on his attacks. Iroh can only cancel this move after frame 97. However, Iroh is able to cancel the move at any point with White Lotus Counter On frame 84 he gets the mentioned buffs, but if the move gets interrupted before this, he will not gain anything. The JASMINE DRAGON'S TEA ENHANCEMENT effect lasts for about 12 seconds. JASMINE DRAGON'S TEA ENHANCEMENT Iroh does a short hop before shooting a fireball below him (fireball deals 4% damage) Iroh can only short hop 3 times on the air EX VERSION Iroh does a short hop before shooting 3 fireballs below him (fireball deals 4% damage)

Iroh uses fire bending to get a jump boost. When Iroh reaches the maximum height, you can press the special button to perform a dive (hitting any opponents with the dive will deal an extra 10% damage) If you don't press the special button before frame 52, Iroh can no longer perform the dive and will begin to free fall. JASMINE DRAGON'S TEA ENHANCEMENT / EX VERSION: Iroh covers more height with the jump boost.
