Introduction

Russia hasn't had a single inbound or outbound plane ever since Zangief was born.


To many, Zangief requires no introduction.

The iconic Russian grappler is the grappler of Street Fighter IV Remix, with his kit comprised of a multitude of tools that allow him to score extremely oppressive knockdowns, as well as loop pressure from them into a victory. His legendary command grab, the Spinning Piledriver, has extremely quick startup and invulnerability frames on its EX version, combined with the fact you can combo into multiple throws in a single combo. His proximity-based throw has been divided up into two moves: the Running Bear Grab, a powerbomb that launches the opponent and allows for juggles afterwards, and the Atomic Suplex, a quick and powerful throw that gives an excellent hard knockdown.

Zangief's mobility is extremely high for a grappler, with an excellent universal dash that allows him to cover a huge portion of the screen in seconds. This is compounded by the power of his Banishing Flat, colloquially known as "Green Hand". Banishing Flat is capable of destroying projectiles as well as covering a large portion of the ground for Zangief. His Double Lariat has been greatly altered, acting as an invincible reversal, a combo tool, and overall an important cornerstone of his gameplay. Between his overwhelming knockdowns and strong approach tools, Zangief remains a threat at nearly any location on the screen, regardless of distance.

  • Insane Damage: Zangief is one of the most explosive characters in Remix. The fact all of his throws are comboable, combined with his great mixups and pressure potential makes Zangief one of the scariest characters to have to fight with resources - not to mention his meterless damage is still top of the class, to boot.
