Misaka Shiori (EFZ)

From SuperCombo Wiki

Introduction

Shiori-efz.png

Misaka Shiori (美坂 栞) is an agile, projectile-heavy character who fights with the power of all things cold. With all of her ranged attacks and her projectile shield, Shiori is quite suited for a keep-away style of play.

Shiori is actually one of the heroines of Kanon, a visual novel produced by Key in 1999. She is a first-year student at the high school that Yuiichi attends, but has been absent for a long time due to her prolonged cold. Shiori regularly hangs around the school's courtyard during school hours, simply standing there for long periods of time. During Kanon, Yuiichi takes Shiori out and starts getting close to her, but soon finds out that her sickness is not what it seems...

Stage: Snowy Park (Night) (雪の公園(夜))

BGM: Behind that smile (笑顔の向こう側に)

Character-Specific Notes

  • Shiori is able to air jump once, and air dash/backstep once.
  • Shiori's Medium attacks are chained either like 5B(c) 5B(f), or like 5B(c) 2B.
  • If Shiori uses her "A sure way to win snowball fights" move, a "Shield" gauge appears below her life gauge, indicating the time left before the shield disappears. While Shiori has her shield, she becomes completely immune to all projectile attacks.

Weak Attacks

5A

  • Shiori does a short punch to the opponent's torso.
  • [usefulness]

2A

  • Shiori does a short punch to the opponent's torso from her crouching state.
  • This move is pretty weak for a 2A, and it does not even hit low!

j.A

  • Shiori flicks her shawl out diagonally down-forwards a short distance.
  • [usefulness]

66A

  • Shiori does a short punch to the opponent's torso.
  • [usefulness]

662A

  • Shiori does a short punch to the opponent's torso from her crouching state.
  • Even less useful than her regular 2A since it is a typical dash attack and can only be cancelled into specials.

Medium Attacks

5B (close)

  • Shiori kicks her foot high, creating a bladed arc of ice in its wake.
  • [usefulness]

5B (far)

  • Shiori whips her now-frozen shawl directly out in front of her, reaching 1/3 of the screen.
  • This move is probably Shiori's best poke due to its range and speed. However, at this move's maximum range, it cannot be comboed into the Strong attacks since they do not extend far enough.

2B

  • Shiori does a short punch to the opponent's knees.
  • This move is Shiori's fastest low attack. It cannot be comboed into any other B attacks, so it will not be as easy to hit-confirm Shiori's high-low mixup game compared to other characters.

j.B

  • Shiori creates a straight blade of ice from her hand, pointing diagonally down-forward.
  • [usefulness]

66B

  • Shiori kicks her foot high, creating a bladed arc of ice in its wake.
  • [usefulness]

662B

  • Shiori does a short punch to the opponent's knees.
  • [usefulness]

Strong Attacks

5C

  • Shiori generates a mid-sized shard of ice from the ground, pointing diagonally up-forwards. This move will launch the opponent and becomes jump-cancellable if it hits.
  • This move is Shiori's primary method to launch her opponent and use her powerful air combos.

2C

  • Shiori does a low sweep kick, with a blade of ice on her foot to increase her range. This move will barely launch the opponent.
  • [usefulness]

j.C

  • Shiori creates a chainsaw of ice from her foot, pointing diagonally down-forward. It hits 3 times, each hit does the same amount, and can be cancelled in-between hits.
  • [usefulness]

66C

  • Shiori does a short running hop and slams her shawl on top of the opponent's head. This move acts as an overhead, and will knock down the opponent if it hits.
  • [usefulness]

662C

  • hiori does a low sweep kick, with a blade of ice on her foot to increase her range. This move will barely launch the opponent.
  • [usefulness]

Throws

Throw

  • Shiori hugs the opponent, who then goes into a frozen state and is launched high and slightly forward before landing in a knockdown state.
  • This move is a pretty useful throw in the corner, because it is possible for Shiori to combo while the opponent is still frozen.

Air Throw

  • Shiori hugs the opponent, who then goes into a frozen state and is launched high and slightly forward before landing in a knockdown state.
  • [usefulness]

Specials

A sure way to win snowball fights (雪合戦必勝法です)

  • Shiori poses for a half-second, and then generates a circular shield around her which makes her completely immune to almost all projectile attacks. The shield lasts for about 10 seconds before fading.
  • [usefulness]

It's an ice cream beam (アイスクリームビームです)

  • A version:
    • Shiori shoots an instant 3-hit beam straight across the entire screen. This move will freeze the opponent for a second if it hits.
    • [usefulness]
  • B version:
    • Same as the A version, except that Shiori does a slight delay before firing, and recovers faster.
    • [usefulness]
  • C version:
    • Shiori shoots 3 instant hit beams straight across the entire screen, with slight differences in height. This move will place the opponent in a special frozen state if it hits, which allows Shiori to combo directly afterwards.
    • [usefulness]
  • Aerial versions:
    • Same as the corresponding ground versions, except the beam stays parellel to Shiori's jump arc. Also, if she reaches the ground before the move finishes, she will hover at ground level with the same momentum of her initial jump until she recovers.
    • [usefulness]

It's a spinning shawl (ストール回転です)

  • A version:
    • Shiori spins her shawl in a large circle in front of her, hitting the opponent a maximum of 5 times. This move will launch the opponent if it hits, but it generally not possible to follow up without IC.
    • [usefulness]
  • B version:
    • Same as the A version, except it hits a maximum of 9 times.
    • [usefulness]
  • C version:
    • Same as the A version, except it hits a maximum of 18 times and will freeze the opponent into a knockdown state if it hits.
    • [usefulness]

It's a flying snowman (空飛ぶ雪だるまです)

  • Shiori creates a small flying snowman at her location. Depending on the version used, the snowman performs different attacks, and then disappears. The snowman will disappear prematurely if it or Shiori herself is hit.
  • A version:
    • The snowman floats around Shiori for about 2 seconds before punching towards the opponent 3 times.
    • [usefulness]
  • B version:
    • The snowman floats around Shiori for about 2 seconds before firing a thin instant-hit ice beam straight forward. This move will place the opponent in a special frozen state if it hits, which allows Shiori to combo directly afterwards. The aerial version is only slightly different in that the snowman will stay in the place it was created.
    • The aerial version of the B snowman can be TKed to set up crossups where you jump over the opponent leaving the snowman behind her waiting to fire the beam.
  • C version:
    • The snowman quickly moves about 1/3 of the screen in front of her and creates a large circular zone of coldness. This move will freeze the opponent if it hits.
    • There's really no reason to FIC this though, but if you wanted to, really the only way to do so is with the command 214 2C.

Watch out above your head (頭上には注意ですよ)

  • Shiori raises her hand out toward the sky, and a large block of ice falls from above (A: close, B: middle, C: far). This move will knock down the opponent if it hits.
  • [usefulness]

This is sharper than I thought (思ったより切れるんですよ)

  • A version:
    • Shiori throws two ice-boxcutters in a straight line diagonally down-forwards. Each boxcutter contributes to half of the listed damage. (All versions of the boxcutter allow Shiori to stay in the air a little longer.)
    • [usefulness]
  • B version:
    • Same as the A version, except Shiori does a slight delay before firing.
    • [usefulness]
  • C version:
    • Same as the A version, except Shiori is invincible during startup frames and each boxcutter hits more and does more damage.
    • [usefulness]

Eterny Specials

Were you surprised? (びっくりしましたか?)

  • A version:
    • Shiori crouches down and creates 3 ice spikes from the ground evenly across 1/2 of the screen in front of her. This move will place the opponent in a special frozen state if it hits, which allows Shiori to combo directly afterwards. The best distance to get all 3 spikes to hit is about 1/4 of the screen.
    • [usefulness]
  • B version:
    • Same as the A version, except that Shiori creates 5 ice spikes across the entire screen. It is only possible to hit with 3 spikes at the most though.
    • [usefulness]
  • C version:
    • Same as the B version, except that Shiori creates 6 ice spikes across the entire screen. It is only possible to hit with 4 spikes at the most though. The best distance to get 4 spikes to hit is about 1/4 of the screen.
    • [usefulness]

I'm used to the cold (寒いのには慣れてます)

  • A version:
    • Shiori generates a column of freezing winds that surrounds her on both sides, and as high as 1/2 of the screen. This move will freeze the opponent if it hits, and cannot be air-blocked. The move randomly attacks the opponent when in range, but will normally reach the maximum amount of 5 hits.
    • [usefulness]
  • B version:
    • Same as the A version, except that the column is about 1.5 screens high (already higher than any character can double jump over). Also the randomness is more apparent, varying between 8 and 13 hits, even at point-blank range.
    • [usefulness]
  • C version:
    • Same as the B version, except that the hits randomly vary between 12 and 18 hits, even at point-blank range.
    • [usefulness]

Wide-Spread Megavanilla Cannon (拡散メガバニラ砲)

  • A version:
    • Shiori rapidly fires 15 cartons of ice cream (most likely vanilla) out randomly across a wide angle in front of her. The best position to use the super is at point-blank range, in the air slightly above the opponent. Getting all 15 cartons to hit is usually possible.
    • [usefulness]
  • B version:
    • Same as the A version, except that Shiori fires 27 cartons. On average, only 24 will hit when in the best position.
    • [usefulness]
  • C version:
    • Same as the A version, except that Shiori fires 50 cartons. On average, only 35 will hit when in the best position.
    • [usefulness]

Final Memory

Perfectly Freezing Tornado Strike (完全冷凍竜巻ストライク)

  • Shiori poses with her hand out forwards, then generates a large horizontal tornado of wind. If it hits the opponent, Shiori will toss the frozen opponent into the air, and then uppercut straight through the opponent, ice and all, as it falls. Additionally, if the opponent blocks the tornado on the ground, the move will chip an incredible 2800 damage off, disregarding all forms of damage and defence multipliers.
  • This move can be quite an effective tool to remove the last 1/3 of the opponent's life, which usually takes a long time due to the Guts damage multiplier.
