Street Fighter 4 Remix, usually abbreviated to SF4R or just Remix, is a mod of Street Fighter 4 developed by Miriam (@miriam on Discord). The current version, Remix 2, is a sequel that builds upon Remix 1, which itself was a continuation of a “Rainbow Edition” style mod called Koryu.

Remix completely redesigns the systems, mechanics, and characters of Street Fighter 4, to the point of being essentially its own game. Where Street Fighter 4 is known for tight links, focus attacks, and ultras, Remix is much more about extreme character power, long juggle or cancel combos, and the unique charge system. Meter is much more easily built, and supers are only 2 bars, making it much easier to get a super out in a combo. Ultras have also been reworked into supers, and there is no penalty for selecting both supers at the character select screen (now listed as Remix instead of Ultra Double).

The fun of Remix lies in the extreme differences between characters and how they interact with the system mechanics present. Characters all have different chain systems for their normals, unique defensive and offensive options, and an absurd amount of variance in movement abilities. Each character is tuned up extremely, making it hard to find a character that feels “bad”.

Remix is an extremely fun labbing game that can easily be played against friends by using the online already present in Street Fighter 4. If you want something unique, fun, and deep to dive into with a couple of friends, Remix is a great choice.
