Liu Kang sits comfortably in the top tier thanks to his consistently powerful moveset regardless of variation.

Strengths

Weaknesses

Light on His Feet: Good walk speed and dashes make him very mobile. Fists of Fury: Has multiple fast buttons and strings with great stagger potential. B1 in particular is a 9-frame mid which destroys mashing if they're minus enough. Firestarter: The classic Fireball and its variants give him strong zoning potential. Stand Proud: HIs Shaolin and Nunchaku Stances add to his mix and pressure in unique ways. He's Heating Up!: Dragon Fire buffs his already reasonable damage and grants access to mix-ups with Dragon's Gifts. Nunchucks Are Cool: Kusari Slam is an Armor Breaking command grab which allows him to open opponents up and freely switch sides. Combine with Nunchaku Stance for extra mix. Krush Your Enemies: Armed with multiple decent Krushing Blows, with the fear of Bicycle Kick and F43U3 KBs informing his game plan.

Stubby: Buttons don't come with a lot of range; Can't Stop, Won't Stop: Many of his strings are dial-ins or have generally long animations, a danger for anyone who gets too predictable; "Reasonable" Damage: Somewhat average in terms of combo damage.
