The Basics
Marukka has an incredibly deadly cocktail of speed, disjointed attacks, and damage. It's recommended you becomes very familiar with your best combos and how to space yourself so the very tip of it attacks your opponent. If you're far enough away, a lot of your special moves cannot be punished at all by certain members of the cast (Imp and Violet in particular have almost zero answers for your best moves).
Use Marukka's fast dash cooldown to your advantage by spacing your opponent out and using your superior footsie ability to control the game, and poke with your disjointed Stomach Stun Kick against crouching opponents and Low Sweep against standing ones. Use Low Sweep to protect yourself from players trying to use invulnerable dash attacks, and even though you might feel scummy for doing so, use Wings Of Fury to keep opponents in the corner and locked there.
Learning how to R-Cancel is highly recommended, as a skilled player can easily bag ~50% damage whenever you land a sweep or stun and start a juggle.
Useful Moves
- Turn To Stone: While it doesn't turn opponents who are in an attack animation to stone, the reward for landing this move is incredibly high as your opponent cannot mash out of it - giving you all the time in the world to use whichever combo or grab you please.
/
- Wings Of Fury: Oki? What oki? This spin can hit grounded opponents who are either trying to roll out of the way or performing a wake-up attack. Depending on how they roll or attack, you may even be able to chain multiple of these spins in a row for 3 damage each. A *very* easy way to infuriate your opponents.
- Low Sweep: Learn to love this move, because it's one of the best tools in your arsenal. It has great range, travels forward enough that you're face to face with your opponent when you launch them, will blow out opponents not ready to counter low, and it's unpunishable on block. On top of that, because it's a launcher, it even stuffs attacks that are normally invulnerable, such as dash attacks or cartwheels. Even attacks where your opponent jumps to attack you can get hit by this sweep. If you practice landing this move from as far away as possible and learn to convert juggle strings off of it, you should be able to dominate games from range alternating this, Stomach Stun Kick, and your other one-off tools.
Mixup Combos
These combo strings are used to get around blocking players by quickly switching between low and high attacks. The downside being doing so opens up opportunities for your opponent to combo break out of the combo every time the string switches from high to low or low to high.
Juggle Strings
The following combos can be used after most launchers. You may need to R-Cancel these strings after some launchers that send your opponent further away, such as with .

Low Sweep Strings
Low Sweep is your low launcher of choice, and if your opponent generally sits in combos only mashing high counter, the sweep will often blow them out. Exactly like with Stomach Stun Kick, learning to convert sweeps into juggles is key.
