Controls

Since ROTD is a Neo Geo game, it follows the same 8-way and 4-button format as the other games.

Special Button Combonations

  • A+B is to spot dodge.
  • Forward A+B is to forward roll, Back A+B is to backward roll.
  • C+D is First Impact. During the first impact, a button combination will appear above the meter bar. Alternatively, you can access the air version of first impact by tapping up after landing the attack which warrants a different button combination. The button combination is varied by character.
  • C+D on block is your guard cancel. This is only available on block and costs one bar of meter to do.
  • B+C is to tag in your partner. You can only do this when your tag meter at the top is full and says "CHANGE OK".
  • 236B+C is your Duplex Attack. This requires both characters to be alive, the tag meter to be full and you need at least one meter. If you land a Duplex, you can follow it up by inputting 236B+C again after your character passes it to the tagged-in character. Some character teams have unique duplex attacks, but most just have generic normal attacks.
  • Hold A+B+C+D is to surrender your current character. Surrendering your character gives the remaining life and meter to your other character. It also increases the maximum meter to 5 instead of 3.

Notation Glossary

Numpad Notation

What is numpad notation?

Numpad notation is just a simple way to notate directions using numbers as directions. You can refer to the guide on the right if you are having issues understanding numpad notation.

Combo Notations

Below are characters and short-hand notations to write combos simply while still giving out the correct amount of info to pull the combo off. These are specific to Rage Of The Dragons, and other games may use combo notation differently.

> is a cancel
>> is a link
(WH) is a wall hit
(# hits) means to cancel on a certain hit of the move.
CD (Ground) or CD (air) means which version of impact to use.
(stun) means the opponent is stunned and you can continue your combo.
