==Introduction==
Rage of the Dragons is a 2002 2 on 2 tag fighter developed by Evoga, BrezzaSoft, and Noise Factory on the Neo Geo arcade system. It plays similarly to other fighting games on the Neo Geo like King of Fighters '98.
Rage of the Dragons was supposed to be a Double Dragon fighting sequel to the 1995 version of that game that takes place after Double Dragon II. However, the development team could not acquire the rights for the characters. So instead of scrapping the game, they changed the names of characters; such as Abobo to Abubo. Billy and Jimmy still kept their names respectively.
As of 2020, Piko Interactive now holds the rights to Rage of the Dragons and is working with QUByte Interactive on releasing a modern port. There is yet to be an announcement date.

:Yes. ROTD and ROTD NEO are nearly identical in gameplay terms, save for minor changes to Johann. ROTD NEO features lobbies, matchmaking and offline features such as a comprehensive training mode, 5v5 battles and survival modes.

Gameplay

Rage of the Dragons features a tag system, in which the player takes control of two characters and can switch between them over the course of a match.
Compared to other Neo Geo fighters, ROTD sets itself apart with a bevy of unique mechanics. First Impact is a launcher in effect, enabling juggles after a short, sleek dial-a-combo. Amping up the damage even more are the breakable walls, which lead to a juggle when one is knocked down onto them. To balance this out, defense is also strong; ROTD borrows Advanced Mode's rolls, but also Extra Mode's dodges. Tag-Ins themselves are also excellent defensive options, but there's also Duplex Attacks: fast supers which confirm the switch. Finally, one can always use Surrender to donate their remaining health to their teammate and give them two more stocks.
A minor caveat for KOF players is how command normals do not lose their mixup properties when cancelled into, and most can cancel into specials raw. This, against dodges, gives the game more of an emphasis on strings.
