The 4th Installment of the series, it is regarded as one of the best games due to the novelty of choosing between two types of power gauges that cater to two different playstyles. They are Advanced Mode, the KOF96 style with Evasion and Run but with power stocks for Super Moves, and Extra Mode, the KOF95 style with Charge Bar, dashes, and spot dodges. Introduction

The King of Fighters '97 is a 2D fighting game released by SNK in 1997. The 4th Installment of the series, it is regarded as one of the best games due to the novelty of choosing between two types of power gauges that cater to two different playstyles. They are Advanced Mode, the KOF96 style with Evasion and Run but with power stocks for Super Moves, and Extra Mode, the KOF95 style with Charge Bar, dashes, and spot dodges. The game also features a "Boss Team" along with fastest versions of Iori and Leona as the first sub bosses.

Its one of the most "canonically competitive" ones and has especially sparked massive popularity in China, so much so they still play the game to this day on a widely competitive level.

  • Potentially add separate tier lists based on whether infinites are allowed or not as this does change the meta
  • Potentially add info to compare 97 with KOF96 and 98 to paint a better picture as to what is different (and dispel the saying "97 is 98 but worse")
  • Add more to and create FAQ, System, etc. pages
  • Gather both frame data and hitboxes
  • Update all character pages with info in general (combos, frame data, etc.)
  • General overhaul of the entire wiki
  • Clean up the systems and orochi's page
