==Introduction==
High Speed Venom (ハイスピードヴェノム, Hai Supīdo Venomu; also known as Red Venom, Hyper Venom, Dash Venom, or even Carnage as some people call him) is a secret character in Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes. He is an orange colored Venom, resembling Carnage. When confronted as a CPU opponent during Arcade Mode, Hyper Venom is introduced by Onslaught before the battle begins. In the Japanese version, Onslaught refers to him as his "servant" and orders him to destroy everything and to bring desperation equally to all of humanity. In the English version, he shouts at the player to "witness the might of Onslaught unleashed!". This line of dialogue implies Hyper Venom is a clone of the real Venom created by Onslaught's psychic powers. Hyper Venom's ending, just like those of the other Marvel secret characters in the game, is him simply doing his character select animation in front of the Hyper Combo background while the text "Congratulations! You've defeated the game with a secret character!" appears underneath him.

Venom embodies the Glass Cannon archetype, possibly even a straw nuke. He has access to not only an easy infinite and a lot of combo variety, but he also has access to a plethora of big normals, big damage tools and not to mention his speed, making him on-par with Wolverine in terms of mobility and agility. It all comes with a price though, with how much damage he deals, they made him have a huge downside which is him taking twice as much damage compared to the other cast members of the game, enough to essentially kill him in two interactions. A character like this requires a good foundation of game knowledge, fundamentals, and execution because despite his infinite being easy to do, you can't solely rely on it. Unless you do any kind of reset in some form, you'll eat a nasty punish that could cost you, if not outright result in Hyper Venom dying.

'''How to Select Hyper Venom'''

{{ ProConTable
| pros =
* '''Huge damage potential:''' Red Venom's damage is massive, potentially the highest in the game. Throw in meter, infinites, resets, or team duos, and you have a character that will shred through even the tankiest characters in the game.
* '''Fast mobility:''' Red Venom also has the highest speed in the game that makes moving around a breeze. Despite not having anything in particular to help his movement beyond a web swinging special move, his speed is enough to pressure opponents or run away.
* '''Great normals:'''
* '''Easily builds meter:'''
* '''Super can convert into infinite:'''
* '''One of the easiest infinites:'''
* '''Is on-par with Wolverine, arguably top 1, once played right:'''
| cons =
* '''Lowest health in the game:''' If Hyper Venom gets hit, get ready to play your next character. If doing just basic BnBs, he can die in just two, maybe three interactions at best. But if the opponent gets a solid punish off of him at any moment, be it an uncombo or a super, he will die. Hyper Venom cannot afford any mistakes, no matter how small they are. Even a basic Wolverine magic series into OTG grab reset is a TOD combo against Red Venom.
* '''Unsafe supers:''' Unless you have an assist or team duo available to make Red Venom's supers safe, they're punishable. That means he dies, and thus it's not worth using them if you aren't sure it'll be safe.
* '''Steep Learning Curve:''' The moment you drop his combo or infinite without resetting is the moment Red Venom dies. You want everything to go correctly with Red Venom because it must be repeated, once you make a simple mistep, he dies. Your neutral needs to be spotless because of his all-or-nothing nature. In turn, that also means having the game knowledge to back it up.

1) Venom Web - D,DF,F+2P

        This is what a true human spider should be doing, not some off-the-
  screen flying kicks. Venom's Carnage Mode jumps forward a little, prepares
  to do what looks like a jumping MK, but then flashes and out comes a
  screenfull of...WEB! Anyone open at that moment, unless he's at the
  peak of a super jump, will fall prey to this great super move. THE best
  super to use in a team work super because it allows your partner to
  pour out his/her own super while Venom's at it. Other useful reasons
  to do this move would be to finish what a helper started, punish a missed
  super, and trick a raging super-jumper.

2) Death Bite - D,DF,F+2K

        First, there was the crouching HK, then there was the Venom Bite.
  Now, this? Capcom has really overused the animation for Venom's Carnage
  Mode's crouching HK cause, as you can see, it has both a special and
  a super version! *Sigh*,...at least it's a good ground combo ender,
  specifically after a crouching HK, and it also is a good chipper, compared
  to the Venom Web, which does ZERO chip. Use it mainly to counter
  slow ground attacks.

Introduction

How to Select Hyper Venom

Strengths Weaknesses
  • Huge damage potential: Red Venom's damage is massive, potentially the highest in the game. Throw in meter, infinites, resets, or team duos, and you have a character that will shred through even the tankiest characters in the game.
  • Fast mobility: Red Venom also has the highest speed in the game that makes moving around a breeze. Despite not having anything in particular to help his movement beyond a web swinging special move, his speed is enough to pressure opponents or run away.
  • Great normals:
  • Easily builds meter:
  • Super can convert into infinite:
  • One of the easiest infinites:
  • Is on-par with Wolverine, arguably top 1, once played right:
  • Lowest health in the game: If Hyper Venom gets hit, get ready to play your next character.
  • Unsafe supers: Unless you have an assist or team duo available to make Red Venom's supers safe, they're punishable. That means he dies, and thus it's not worth using them if you aren't sure it'll be safe.
  • Steep Learning Curve: The moment you drop his combo or infinite without resetting is the moment Red Venom dies. You want everything to go correctly with Red Venom because it must be repeated, once you make a simple mistep, he dies. Your neutral needs to be spotless because of his all-or-nothing nature. In turn, that also means having the game knowledge to back it up.

The most dominant Red Venom main out there, he also has a really nasty Wolverine that can kill you in one juggle in the corner. This savage is also responsible for recording a good amount of game footage from the early days pre-dating 2004.

Due to this normal being very fast and building quite a bit of meter, you can use it similarly to how Cyclops uses his j.HK to build meter in MvC2.
