The biggest Marvel vs Capcom 2 tournaments in North America are, in alphabetical order:

East Coast Championships (ECC)
Held on cabinets at the end of May in New Jersey. Headquartered at 8 on the Break in Dunellen, New Jersey, this cabinet tournament is in a small space but has tons of great players and has very responsive management. Originated by Todd 'Zeruel' Dwyer, in later years the reigns were handed over to JetPhi, famous for his "DISQUALIFIED!" shout. In 2006, ECC was entrusted with it's current co-directors: DarksydePhil (DSP) and Josh Wigfall (DaWigsta).
Evolution
Held on console in Las Vegas during late summer. Run by the same people who bring you Shoryuken.com. It's a console tournament which has generally featured the best of the West, East, and several international players (many of which have won the tournaments). In 2006 this tournament was expanded to a series of three events. A West Coast event in Los Angeles, an East Coast event in Stamford, CT, and a final battle in Las Vegas, NV. All three are open tournaments, with winners of the west and east regionals given byes past the first rounds of the Vegas event.
