Tatsunoko vs Capcom/Rock Volnutt

From SuperCombo Wiki

Introduction

TvC says that Rock Volnutt originated from Mega Man Legends (which is true).

Moves List

Normal Moves

  • Tap or Hold C - Buster Shot - Rock Volnutt's Buster Shot can be charged and shot in various angles. Just tapping C shoots a tiny 1 to 2 hit Buster Shot; holing C for 2 seconds (you will see a small orb around his Buster Gun) does a slightly larger 2 to 3 hit Buster Shot; holding C for 4 seconds (you will see the small orb grow into a larger orb on his Buster Gun) does a larger 3 to 4 hit Buster Shot; and holding C for 6 seconds (you will see the same size orb before, but now it looks like the orb is sucking energy around its environment) does a fast 4 to 5 hit Buster Shot. While you're crouching, tapping C does a 45 degree angle shot (and the same charging rules apply). While jumping, you can either do a horizontal Buster Shot by tapping (or if you've been holding down C) C, or do a downward 45 degree angle shot by tapping down+C (or if you've been holding down C). The number of hits depend on where you are at on the screen and the size of your enemy.
  • (Equip Arm)F+B (Can also be done in the air) - Overhead punch - Rock Volnutt lunges at the enemy with an overhead punch, causing the enemy to stagger. If you successfully hit your enemy with this, you can Lauch (down-forward+C) in the air to start an air combo or link it into his QCB+AB super. The air verion is the same animation and can be linked into his QCB+AB super. His Overhead punch can also be used in a combo.

Special Moves

Note: Rock Volnutt starts the match with his Equip Arm, meaning that you don't have his Bullet Gun, Shield, or Drill equipped. To equip one of the three, do:

  • QCB+A or Down, down+A or QCF+A (All three ways can also be done in the air) - Equip Bullet Gun - There are three different ways to Equip Bullet Gun. You can tell that you have Equip Bullet Gun by the red flash on his arm and a clicking sound . The QCB+A makes Rock Volnutt dash and twist backwards, the down, down+A stays where he's at, and the QCF+A makes Rock Volnutt dash and twist forwards. You can return to his Equip Arm by simply using one of the three motions. You will know that you're back to Equip Arm when you see a light blue flash on his arm and a clicking sound. The way you shoot with Equip Bullet Gun is by tapping F+B. Rock Volnutt will shoot 4 bullets at his enemy. You can cancel his bullets into his Equip Bullet Gun super/air Equip Bullet Gun super (QCB+AB/j.QCB+AB) or his Equip Drill Uppercut super. You can also shoot at various angles (the same way as you can with the Buster Shot).
  • QCB+B or Down, down+B or QCF+B (All three ways can also be done in the air) - Equip Shield - There are three different ways to Equip Shield. You can tell that you have Equip Shield by the light green flash on his arm and a clicking sound . The QCB+B makes Rock Volnutt dash and twist backwards, the down, down+B stays where he's at, and the QCF+B makes Rock Volnutt dash and twist forwards. You can return to his Equip Arm by simply using one of the three motions. You will know that you're back to Equip Arm when you see a light blue flash on his arm and a clicking sound. The way you use Equip Shield is by tapping F+B. Rock Volnutt will use his shield for a second. If you are close enough to the enemy, you will cause your enemy to slam into the wall. You can also use Equip Shield in the air. If the enemy is close, your enemy will slam into the wall.
  • QCB+C or Down, down+C or QCF+C (All three ways can also be done in the air) - Equip Drill - There are three different ways to Equip Drill. You can tell that you have Equip Drill by the purple flash on his arm and a clicking sound . The QCB+C makes Rock Volnutt dash and twist backwards, the down, down+C stays where he's at, and the QCF+C makes Rock Volnutt dash and twist forwards. You can return to his Equip Arm by simply using one of the three motions. You will know that you're back to Equip Arm when you see a light blue flash on his arm and a clicking sound. The way you use Equip Drill is by either tapping F+B or Down-forward+B. The F+B version makes Rock Volnutt dash forward with his drill and does 6 hits on his enemy. The down-forward+B version is his drill uppercut, doing 6 hits on his enemy. The air version of his drill does an drill uppercut. It is done by tapping down-forward+B, doing 5 to 7 hits. The hits for his air drill uppercut depends on his location on the screen, how close he is to his enemy, and the size of the enemy. You can cancel his ground drill or air drill into his Equip Bullet Gun super (QCB+AB).

Note: What is interesting to point out is: On the ground, you can cover a lot of ground by using the QCF/QCB+A/B/C; even messing with your opponents head. In the air, you can do QCF/QCB+A/B/C in the air up to two times; giving Rock Volnutt the ability to do an "alternate" dash up to two times. And his down, down+A/B/C can be done two times in the air (this causes Rock Volnutt to start dropping straight down). Also, you can mix up the Equip versions into combos. Experiment and see what you find!

Super Moves

Note: You can use any of these supers in any Equip state:

  • QCB+AB (Can also be done in the air) - Equip Bullet Gun super - Rock Volnutt does 41 hits with Equip Bullet Gun. You can also determine the direction of the bullets both on the ground and in the air. On the ground, you only have control of the shots from straight horizontal shots and beyond; in the air, you only have control oh the shots from straight air horizontal shots and below. You can use this in a combo.
  • DP+AB - Equip Bullet Gun Uppercut super - Rock Volnutt takes his Equip Drill and drill uppercut. This does around 15 hits. You can use this in a combo.
  • QCF+AB (Level 3 Super) - Vertical Equip Super Beam - Rock Volnutt takes his slightly charged Buster Gun and punches the enemy in the chest, then lifts the enemy above his head, shoots them with the slightly charged Buster Gun with a Buster Shot, then quickly switches into his Equip Super Beam, blasting them in the air. This super does 25 hits. You can combo into this.
