MI-SA-WA

MI-SA-WA

One of the FOUR PILLARS OF HEAVEN in the world of AJPW, Misawa is the ace of AJPW and this game. He's got incredible attacks that give him both good combo options and easy access to his hold mini-game on block/hit, and huge comeback potential thanks to MAX only throws. Misawa is a stable character with interesting tech/combos and the ability to take control of the match from just about any situation.

Strengths Weaknesses
  • Strong Basic Throw: Misawa 5T has a small break window and a lot of potential power behind it with the chance to hit OTG 2A afterwards.
  • 2A/6A/4A Spins + Sideturn: Misawa has several moves that either turn him during the startup with a mini-sidestep, or turn the opponent to the side on hit. Because of these features, its actually quite easy for him to, whether intentionally or accidentally, get to the opponent's back. And since you can't block while back turned -and- he has fast and unparryable strikes, you can piece together how strong his attacking options are.
  • Misawa Elbow: Misawa's basic 5A is one of the fastest 5A's in the game, does a bit more damage than average, and sets up the rest of his excellent strikes.
  • Strong Running Mixup: Misawa's running elbow is one of the best running moves in the game, and the counter to it, hold attacks, loses to his other running options, such as running dropkick.
  • Submission Weakness: Misawa takes extra parts damage against neck/left leg attacks, making him suspecitble to submission attempts on those parts versus players that know how to leverage the submission mini-game.

Attacks

5A

5A
Misawa Elbow ⭐
Damage Startup Hit Adv Block Adv Special Property Meter Build
- - 18 +8 -12 - -

Misawa's 5A elbow is quite fast and very safe thanks to the slight pushout it has. A good poke.

5AA

5AA
Misawa Elbow Series 1
Damage Startup Hit Adv Block Adv Special Property Meter Build
- - - +5 -13 - -

Second hit of mash string. The -13 actually sets up a throw attempt versus habitual 5H enjoyers on block, or he can run after its blocked to force whiffs.

2A

2A
Misawa Elbow
Damage Startup Hit Adv Block Adv Special Property Meter Build
- - 27 +2 -16 Unparryable -

A premium shin kick, as there aren't many "low" hitting pokes like this in the game. It puts the opponent side turned on hit and in general creates an awkward situation for the opponent on defense. Has the potential to get behind the opponent due to the mini-side step he does. Considering how many moves Misawa has that give him lateral movement, this can accidentally give him a true combo depending upon how it hits the opponent. Creates good space on block, too.

6A

6A
Roundhouse Kick
Damage Startup Hit Adv Block Adv Special Property Meter Build
- - 37 +21 -10 Unparryable -

Misawa's golden button. Has enough frame advantage that followup 5A is unblockable, only parryable. -10 for the strength of this move is pretty shocking, all things considered. On block, opponent can only 1-frame throw the gap between 6A->5H. All in all, one of the primary reasons to play Misawa

4A

4A
Spinning back elbow

- - 26 +5 -21 - -

Lots of range.

46A or 5AAAA
Spinning misawa elbow
Damage Startup Hit Adv Block Adv Special Property Meter Build
- - 44 X +14 Unparryable, "Swinging Arm" type move, reversalable knockdown -

Incredible pressure tool if you're willing to risk its slow speed. Be careful when using it versus characters with unique counters vs swinging arm moves.

Running A

Running Elbow

50% of green bar - 18 X +1 Unparryable, (Parryable?) -

Insanely high damage running elbow that also gives Misawa momentum on block. A powerful move for a heroic champion.

Body Slam

Generic body slam made considerably better by the power of his high damage OTG 2A.
