Attributes

Every character in Melee has a large array of attributes that makeup their movement, speed, and mobility.

Weight

Weight is the attribute that measures how much a character resists knockback.

In Melee, the average weight of a character is 90, with the lightest playable character being SSBM Pichu Icon.png Pichu at 55, and the heaviest being SSBM Bowser Icon.png Bowser at 117.

Fall Speed

Fall Speed is how fast a character moves downward towards the ground in mid-air. A character has two fixed fall speeds: Regular, and fastfall. Fastfall is initiated once you are past the apex of your jump and press downwards, accelerating you quicker downwards, though this difference in regular and fastfall speeds is different on a character to character basis.

In Melee, Falco has the fastest regular and fastfall speeds, at 3.1 and 3.5, and Jigglypuff has the slowest at 1.3 and 1.6 respectively.

Gravity is how fast a character reaches their top falling speed.

In Melee, SSBM Fox Icon.png Fox has the lowest gravity value at 0.064, and SSBM Jigglypuff Icon.png Jigglypuff has the lowest gravity value at 0.064.
