The way Projectile Clashing works in Marvel Vs. This is why you'll see in a lot of cases it takes a few shots of something to finally penetrate another Projectile.  Amaterasu's Ice Beads, for example, are on the lower end of Projectile Strength, so it will take a few shots to finally eradicate Ryu's Hadoken, which is much stronger than a single Ice Bead.

Moves like Storm's Whirlwind have a ton of Projectile Strength, which is why it can go through just about any Projectile you throw at it.  Arthur's weapons also all have incredible Projectile Strength, particularly when powered up with the Gold Armor.  Some may wonder why, when powering up, Arthur goes from being able to throw two lances to only one lance.  Well, it's because the one lance he throws suddenly has a ridiculous amount of Projectile Strength, and I have yet to see a single thing Arthur's Gold Armor lance can lose to.  It's insane how powerful that move is in terms of Projectile Strength.

But keep in mind that Projectile Strength is an absolutely arbitrary number assigned by the developers at Capcom.  There is in no way any indication of how much Projectile Strength a Projectile has based on the damage it does or based on how many hits it does and so on and so forth.
