This doesn't match the data in the CFC2 version?
This wiki was built around the console/flycast version that was ran in tournaments since its launch, primarily around the RiB and AlexAlchemy tournaments in 2022 and leading up through Combo Breaker 2024. When Capcom announced CFC2 and that Plasma Sword was the "Consumer" version of the game, we had no clue that the (completely avoided outside of Japan) arcade version of the game would be the version that we'd all end up playing on legally. There aren't a tremendous amount of differences between the two versions that are immediately known, but this is largely because there has never been a tournament scene for the arcade version due to unavailability and worse balance. As such, if you find a data difference, you should report it or update this wiki.
As of now, these are the version differences we're currently aware of:
General
All damage is higher on arcade/CFC2 version.
Vector/Omega
2B is worse in arcade/CFC2. (HS/BS: +3/+4 in arcade, +6/+5 in console)
Zelkin/Eagle
4B is faster (i12 in arcade/CFC2. i14 in console)
Thunder Blade (46B) is faster (i15 in arcade/CFC2, i16 in console)
Bilstein/G. Bilstein
(Bilstein only)3BAA doesn't seem to work post super juggle launch anymore (only 3B hits, 3BA whiffs on bilstein v. bilstein)
Hayato/B. Hayato
2A is more advantageous on hit (HS/BS: +6/+4 in arcade, +4/+4 in console)
Where is (X) info?
This game was not well documented during its release and never had a NA scene. For all intents and purposes, a lot of the data finding for the game is occurring right now. With the training features of Flycast allowing players to capture and record frame data, it is highly encouraged that if you see something missing, that you test it yourself and add it to the wiki.
Why doesn't every character have their own page?
The game's roster looks pretty large on the surface, but the reality is most of the cast is made up of mirror characters of the main 10 characters, meaning outside of aesthetics and different supers, they're the exact same characters. While the differences are worth noting in a small section on their pages and why one version is better than the other version, it'd be a waste to dedicate an entire page to every character in the game. Some characters like Rain are entirely unique, or at least different enough, so they're exempt from the rule. This also means that a seemingly 24 character roster fighting game is actually in one way only 14 characters... So instead of having 10 pages of copy/pasted info, or empty space, they're combined into the same page.
What does the tier list look like?
CrowSpaceboy May 2024
Tier list was made after Combo Breaker by CrowSpaceboy, thanks to the event having a Plasma Sword side bracket. While it's potentially not 100% accurate, it's the closest to a more complete tier list we have, made by his own thoughts after extensive labbing and tournament play. Tier list can be found here and with notes explaining the thought process behind it. Ordered within tier, left is stronger while right is weaker, which yes also means that there's one character objectively better than the other with mirror characters. Big difference between tiers.
- S: June, Ele, Zelkin, Eagle, Byakko, Gantetsu, Gamof
- A: Rai-On, Rain, Blood, Shaker, Vector, Saturn, Kaede, Omega
- B: Prince, B. Hayato, Hayato, Bilstein, Nightmare Bilstein
- C: Gore, Luca, Clair, Gerelt
Old Tier Lists
Don't use the below tier list. I made it when the game was still new (at least primarily to me, Lichmassacre) and is very inaccurate to what we now know today.
Preliminary Tier List until more tech is discovered: (September 2021)
- Return to Monke: Zelkin, Eagle, Rai-On
- Top: Byakko, June, Hayato, Black Hayato
- High Potential: Shaker, Blood, Ele, Gerelt, Claire, Saturn, Prince, Kaede
- Middle Ground/Unsure: Gantetsu, Gamof, Vector, Ghost Bilstein, Bilstein
- Chillaxing a bit much: Luca, Gore, Omega
- Capable but requires a ton of work: Rain
Play as Evil Gamof
Highlight Gamof, Hold Start and press any button to select him. He is only a palette swap of Gamof, not a separate character.
Play as Kaede
Highlight Rain and press Down, Down, Left, Left, Up.
Play as Rai-On
Highlight Byakko and press Up, Down, Left, Left, Right, Left, Up.
