EX Specials
New to KOF XIII is the ability to spend one Super Meter stock to use a powered up special move. Similar to the buffs found on EX Specials from Street Fighter games, EX Specials in KOFXIII are strengthened with increased startup speed, increased damage, the addition of invulnerability, or extended possibilities to juggle.
- Most special moves have an EX variety, which can be executed by pressing both punch or kick buttons simultaneously instead of one. For example the EX version of Kyo's Oniyaki (

- For the expense of two Super Meters one can also execute an EX super.
