Introduction

Sentinel of the Hourglass

"Reconstructed by Liu Kang at the dawn of his New Era, Geras remains eternal and unkillable. He retains the memories of all the innumerable timelines he has watched pass and fade. In this New Era, Geras monitors events to make sure that they are faithful to Liu Kang’s vision. When they deviate from their intended path, it is Geras’s responsibility to correct them. As threats begin to mount, Geras works tirelessly to defend reality. But to succeed, he must first identify the mastermind behind the plot to destroy Liu Kang’s New Era.”

Geras is a grappler/setplay archetype that boasts generally lower health (950 HP) in exchange for having unique abilities that can “alter time” to his advantage by rewinding/cloning himself or freezing opponents; his BF1 can “Time Stop” the opponent in a stun state by using the EX version or interrupting the default version with certain Kameos (i.e. Motaro/Lao), allowing him to inflict guaranteed dmg against the frozen opponent and cause their hit reaction out of Time Stop to correspond with the last attack used. Geras can mark an “anchor” spot with BF3 Redo that lasts for 5 seconds or until he is hit, after which he will be returned to the anchor position; spending two bars of meter for EX BF3 will instead trigger “Double Time” to stop time and create a sand clone puppet of Geras that stores the player’s inputs during the timestop and then acts out the inputted sequence while Geras can act independently. His 17f DB2/DF2 command grabs utilize his disjointed sand clones and grant a tick-throw after all crouching pokes and F1/F12 staggers, having an altered animation with more dmg when throwing opponents out of the corner; the EX versions change the Throw to hit neutral-ducking opponents and alter their hit reaction to allow conversions into juggles with Kameo assists. Geras can use select specials and strings to build up to 3 “Countdown” charges (i.e. DB3) which causes the next DB3 to trigger “Inevitable,” an instant fullscreen tracking version of EX Time Stop that automatically teleports him to the opponent and allows for meterless kombo conversions; he can alternatively spend all 3 charges and a bar of meter to perform DB3
