Introduction

An oddball in the world of fighting game ROM Hacks, KOF 98 ECK is not one focused on balance or roster additions. The changes it makes are assumedly for entertainment purposes only.

System Changes

-The UI during fights has been overhauled.

-Various animations have been sped up.

-The Super sound and sfx have been changed to that of KOF 2003 and SvC Chaos.

-All Supers are now performed with a 22 or 646 input.

-EX Characters can now be selected via Random Select (That includes Omega Rugal)

Character Changes

This page will list all of the new and changed moves that each character has


Kyo Kusanagi Portrait KOF98UM Kyo.png

-New Command Normal: 6A. Same animation as 236A but without the fire.

-New Command Normal: 3C. Same animation as the A/C followup of 236A, 63214A/C but without the fire.

-EX Kyo's 421B/D is available to regular Kyo as 623B/D.

-63214B is Kyo's 214A from KOF 2000.

-623A/C, 623B/D, and 421B/D are now Air OK.

Supers

-22A: Saishuu Kessen Ougi "Mu Shiki"

-22B: Ura 108 Shiki Orochi Nagi; Kyo's flaming hitbox while charging the MAX Mode version of this move no longer sends upwards.

-22C: 182 Shiki

-22D: The Syo Special; MAX Mode version has Kyo turning into Syo to perform a different series of attacks.

-Idle animation changed to that from the NESTS games.

-Lightning FX color changed to a blueish purple.

-New Command Normal: 3C. Same animation as 236C but without the lightning.

-New Command Normal: 3D. Some sort of jumping double knee attack. No idea where this comes from.

-214A is Beni's 214A from KOF 2003.

-214C uses the same animation as 214A but is a projectile move.

-Beni's old 214C is now 646C.

-643216A/C input changed to 646A. -236D is like the 236D of other games but without the need to input the followup.

Supers

-22A: Raikouken

-22B: Gen'ei Hurricane

-22C: Raikouken (Angled)

-22D: Lighting Bolt; Beni calls forth bolts of lightning. Do not block the MAX Mode version.

-646B: Elec-Trigger

-646D: Raikou Sandan Geri; They really went and gave Beni a ranbu super. MAX Mode version lets us see the rare Benicopter in action.

-22A/C (Air): Air Raikouken


Goro Daimon Portrait KOF98UM Daimon.png

-Daimon's 1P colors have been changed. They may seem familiar to those who played 2003.

-New Command Normal: 6B. He has his own version of Beni's 6B.

-214A/C is a move similar to Ryo's 214A/C. The A version launches while the C version is a sliding knockdown.

-623C is no longer a feint. It has Daimon jumping before the slam.

-There's an attack at the end of 214D's animation.

-632146A/C input changed to 646A/C.

-632146B/D input changed to 646B/D. Has an explosion effect upon landing the throw.

Supers

-22A: Jigoku Gokuraku Otoshi

-22B: Arashi Noyama: Nekko Meki; No longer needs the counter hit to land.

-22C: Goushou; Pillars, man.

-22D: Shikai; The illusion is gone! It was Mukai all along!

-New Command Normal: 3C. A solid anti-air.

-New Command Normal: 6D.

-236C has Terry taking a page from Joe's book.

-214C has different FX.

-623A/C is now Air OK.

-41236D is a mini-Buster Wolf.

-214D has a second Crack Shoot attached to it.

-623B/D is now Air OK.

-EX Terry's 41236B/D is available to Normal Terry as 646B/D.

Supers

-22A: Power Geyser (Close)

-22B: High-Angle Geyser; Is now Air OK.

-22C: Power Geyser (Far); Has a different MAX Mode version from 22A.

-22D: Buster Wolf; MAX Mode version is Terry's NEO Max from 2002.

-New Command Normal: 3C. Wow, everyone's getting an anti-air normal nowadays.

-16A/C input changed to 236A/C. Followup done automatically.

-214C is a new move.

-623C has the same hard knockdown hitbox as 623A.

-214B is a sliding kick followed by a jumping kick.

-214D: Hisshou Blast

-22A: Hisshou Ryuusei Ken

-22B: Chou Reppa Dan (High Angle)

-22C: Geki Hisshou Ryuusei Ken

-22D: Chou Reppa Dan (Low Angle)

-214C is the old (Mash)A/C. Pressing A/C after changes the followup.

-41236B/D input changed to 236B/D.

-623B/D is now Air OK.

-623D has a followup attack.

-22B: Bakuretsu Hurricane Tiger Kakato

-22C: Screw Upper (Fast)

-22D: Golden Tiger Kick

-22B: Tenchi Haoh Ken; MAX Mode version has extra visual flair.
