Steve Fox
Steve Fox is a pressure-heavy, stance-based boxer with evasive movement and strong counter-hit tools. His unique style—using stances like Flicker (FLK), Peekaboo (PAB), and Ducking (DCK)—can overwhelm opponents unfamiliar with his pressure. As Bryan Fury, your goal is to play solid, poke-centric defense and punish his linear strings with well-timed counterattacks and frame traps.
General Strategy
- Keep it Tight – Steve excels at interrupting wide gaps. Stick to tight strings and frame traps, particularly after + frames.
- Sidestep Right – Many of Steve's key moves and transitions (like DCK and PAB entries) track less effectively to Bryan's right.
- Abuse Backdash – Steve struggles against players with solid spacing. Use Bryan’s excellent backdash to bait out whiffs and punish.
- Interrupt with jabs – Steve strings often leave him vulnerable if not properly delayed. Bryan’s fast jabs can interrupt or shut down predictable pressure.
Punishment
The following moves Bryan can punish.
- Steve’s 2,1 – If he finishes the string (2,1,2), it’s punishable on block. Use WS4 or even Jet Upper if close.
- DCK 1+2 (Mid punch) – -14 on block.
- FLK 1+2 – High, and punishable if blocked. Duck and punish.
- Albatross 2 – Whiff-punish it on reaction with df+2 or CH b+1.
Tips
- Don’t mash – Steve’s CH tools will eat you alive. Respect his pressure, but don’t turtle.
- Space carefully – Use Bryan’s strong neutral tools to force Steve to overextend.
- Learn his stances – Recognizing FLK, PAB, and DCK transitions will help you identify punish opportunities.
