* In general before she starts her Astral Vision(see videos below) you can take her on much like you would any other opponent. She will spend a lot of time in the air, most likely running away and throwing projectiles. Depending on your character you can chase her, teleport or throw full screen attacks at her like Magneto's Electromagnetic Disruptor or Deadpool's Trigger Happy.

Morrigan

Umvc3 morrigan face.jpg

Morrigan Aensland first appeared in Capcom's 1994 game Darkstalkers and quickly became a fan favorite for her style, attitude and looks. Though most know her as simply a succubus, she was gifted incredible powers, so much so that her father had to split her soul into multiple pieces. One of those pieces was Lilith who she eventually absorbed in her journey. She was also born a noble in the demon world and is the successor to the Aensland clan who have ruled for generations. Though she'd rather have fun in the human world, over time she's become more aware of her duties as the true ruler to the demon world.

In a nutshell

Though originally hailed as another "mid-tier" character, she's grown into becoming one of the top 5 characters in the entire game. She has some of the fastest and strongest normals in the game, her jumping S also known as Shell Kick is extremely good as well as a jump cancel-able forward H on the ground. Though her fireballs are slow to get to their target, when she activates Astral Vision she's able to double her fireball output and create rediculous amounts of chip damage. Adding in assists such as Doom's Hidden Missiles or Dante's Jam Session allows her soul fists to lock opponents in even more and can even steal meter with Soul Drain. Her hypers are also fantastic, besides Astral Vision, Shadow Servant and her level 3 Darkness Illusion have invulnerability frames to get out of sticky situations. Her air dash is also awkward which makes predicting her movement very difficult. She also has a real reversal dragon punch with Shadow Blade which can be canceled into flight, one of the best ways to remain safe.

Strategy vs. Morrigan

  • Ever since AGE NYChrisG introduced the world to Morrigan's spam techniques she has been winning tournamnets and taking down entire teams across the nation. Coupled with Dr. Doom's Hidden Missile assist she become one of the most difficult matches in the game. The good part is that everyone knows exactly what Morrigan is going to do, the bad part is that not everyone can stop it. Here are some tips:
  • In general before she starts her Astral Vision(see videos below) you can take her on much like you would any other opponent. She will spend a lot of time in the air, most likely running away and throwing projectiles. Depending on your character you can chase her, teleport or throw full screen attacks at her like Magneto's Electromagnetic Disruptor or Deadpool's Trigger Happy.
  • It is a good strategy to try and get under Morrigan but understand that she will most likely drop on your head with an Air {{#motion: s}} so if you get under her while she's in the air make sure to get your hit in before she recovers from the projectile or else you'll need to be prepared to block and advance guard to avoid a sweep attack.
  • Experienced players will eventually go into Astral Vision where she'll spam projectiles at you from both sides in two vertical rows. Below are some videos on how some of the pros have learned to deal with Morrigan:

Quick Kill Strategy: Zero/Vergil/Dante (Mihe) vs. Morrigan/Dr. Doom/Firebrand (LB NYChrisG)

Fight Fire with Fire Strategy: Deadpool/Taskmaster/Dormammu (LB NYChrisG) vs. Morrigan/Dr. Doom/Strider (JRosa)
