| {{lp}} || Quick, does great damage for a jab, solid for stuffing out attacks or jab pressure.

| {{mp}} or {{hp}} || Strong punch, fairly fast and is a decent poke/anti air. Not as good as his other pokes, but still useful in certain situations.

| {{lk}} || Short kick. Not really useful.

| {{mk}} || A crouching kick that lowers your hurtbox. Useful for ducking under some attacks, but its range makes it hard to poke with, so it's more for escaping situations like when fighting eagle up close.

| {{hk}} || Retsu's best move. Does great damage, a lot of active frames, good anti air, and has absurd disjoint (goes way further than his actual foot),  making it very difficult to contest and giving Retsu great defense. Beware of its disadvantages, however, like its slow speed and the fact that it can be ducked. Only use it at longer ranges, because it won't beat out much at close range.
