Maxi's father had worked in the Ryukyu Kingdom as a merchant. Though fortunate enough to be able to experience different cultures on his trade route, he nevertheless felt tied down by his job, and would complain bitterly to his son. On his deathbed, he told Maxi to go out and see the world. Obeying his father's dying wishes, Maxi gathered friends from his hometown and some sailors he knew, and formed a pirate crew.
Maxi is an aggressive rushdown character who rapidly cycles between various stances to crush his opponents like a stylish, nunchaku-wielding wave.

After switching from one stance to another, if Maxi uses an attack from that second stance, he adds a star for that stance on a constellation that appears briefly onscreen. If each star - representing each stance in his repertoire - is filled in, he permanently unlocks upgrades to a few attacks and a new lethal hit for his B+K.B.B.B.A string.

Introduction

Seven Stars Severence
