| I love your decidation and your desire to fill in the various non-game-specific info throughout the wiki, but I strongly recommend not going this far. By using this very detailed movelist-template, we will be forced to make a huge number of changes every time a new game is released. It is not easily maintainable. This information is also redundant with what is expected from the character's game-specific strategy guides. Also, controller movements should belong in the game's character page, not here.

| For these non-game-specific character pages, I would say that a brief character biography, a list of games in our wiki the character has appeared in, and short summaries of the character's signature moves would be enough. There is no need to go into too much detail for the bio, since wikipedia can handle that. I hope you might take this into consideration.

| : What you are saying makes sense. I will endeavor to color within the lines. I thinned out the article quite a bit and removed the move list. I got rid of all of the normal moves that don't have names. I alphabetized the moves in order to more easily look them up. I cut down on the details of the moves and removed the motion descriptions. You suggested that I only list their signature moves. I decided to list all the moves that had names though. I am thinking that giving text descriptions of these moves in different FAQs would be very redundant. The boilerplate [[Alex (3S)]] doesn't have any descriptions for the moves at all. I think that it would be an easy thing to cause a hash-reference link in a game-faq next to the line that describes how to perform the move. Take a look at the links I added to [[Akuma (3S)]] and tell me if you think these are appropriate. Let me know what you think about the current version of the [[Akuma]] page and [[Akuma (3S)]] page. I will then update the generic [[Ryu]], [[Ken]], [[Dan]], and [[Sakura]] pages.

| :: I agree with you on the issue of redundancy, but I would argue that it would be an acceptable amount of redundancy for things like strategy guides. If I was looking at a particular character for a particular game, I would want to see the "move description" on the same page as "how useful this move is", and "when to use the move best in this game". Having to switch between the two pages might be a worse problem than the redundancy issue. Move descriptions are only like one sentence anyway. Another problem that might occur is when a named move looks noticeably different in different games! (I can't think of many examples but it has happened, like Leona's X-Calibur between '97 and '98, or Sol Badguy's Tyrant Rave, or Akuma's Messatsu Gou-Hadou between SF3 and MvC2. You might be able to think of more.) Also, sometimes a move gets renamed between games but still looks the same. Finally, once a character gets too many named attacks (think Soul Calibur) the page becomes horribly cluttered.

| :: I was really thinking these character pages would be a small, short mini-version of the wikipedia's article, with a gameplay slant. Not very long, maybe around a page or less, but enough for a fighting fan to say "oh, that's why he's fighting" and "that's how he fights". Maybe one picture would help too. Of course, I'm just a simple fan like yourself, and I'm not an authority of this wiki (all I really do is contribute to [[Eternal Fighter ZERO]]), but I hope you might think a bit about my proposal. --[[User:Leviathean|Leviathean]] 16:34, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

| Again what you're saying makes sense assuming that the only reason someone would want to use this site for is to get strategy for a particular character for a particular game. Well, that does seem to the purpose of this wiki anyways, so I'm just going to forget about non-game specifics pages, since they really don't seem very fun to make. I redirected all non-game specific pages to the character category page.

| Ok, I decided to go ahead and create a new fighting game mini-wiki over at The Wikia Scratchpad so I don't have to be constrained by the usability issues and scope of this wiki and write about what I want to write about.
