After downloading Heroes & Heralds mode in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 the player is give 3 random cards to use a powerups during battles. Cards are then permanently retained on the user's account. Additional cards can be collected by playing through the Heroes & Heralds offline mode as well as the Heroes & Heralds online ranked battles. Additionally, through weekly online competitions the player can also collect additional Herald (silver) costumes for each character.
