E. Honda comes to Street Fighter V as a close-range mix-up character who specializes in utilizing wacky movement options, generous plus frames, and incredible corner carry to build momentum and overwhelm his opponent with pressure and mix-ups. Whether you want to close the gap with a risky Headbutt, drop from the skies with a Sumo Smash, or making your opponent panic with options after his incredible forward dash, Honda has a lot of ways to put the opponent on their heels and open them up for terrifying damage and blockstrings.

A common misconception is that E. Honda is a grappler, but that’s not really the case. There are lots of characters in SFV, like G, who use the threat of command throws to back up their offense. Honda is a very similar case, combining his Oicho Throw with kara cancels and various routes to frame advantage on block, which when combined make his offense some of the most nerve-wracking in the game. He gives up a lot for this, though — his slow, stubby normals, limited special cancels without V-Skill 2, a horribly unsafe Sumo Headbutt and lack of invincible reversals make his neutral a struggle, but in a game where oki and momentum can mean entire games, Honda has both in spades, and one interaction can make all the difference.
