Fatal Fury Special (餓狼伝説SPECIAL in Japan) is the updated version of [[Fatal Fury 2|Fatal Fury 2]] for the Neo Geo, doubling the number of playable characters while adding new moves and revamped mechanics. Included in the cast is all boss characters of Fatal Fury 2 as well as favorites from Fatal Fury 1 and even Art of Fighting's Ryo Sakazaki as a hidden guest character.

Characterized by its high damage combos, invincible cancellable backdashes and the series' signature lane system, Fatal Fury Special has remained a classic of Japanese arcades, developing a rich competitive history over decades of tournaments. To this day, the FATAL FURY SPECIAL WORLD CUP is held every year at Mikado Game Center.
